Mr. Reeves

Michael Reeves is honored to serve as the inaugural Band Director at Olentangy Berlin High School, where he has been instrumental in building and leading the school’s outstanding band program. A passionate educator and accomplished musician, Mr. Reeves inspires students to excel in marching band, concert band, jazz band, and music theory.

Born and raised in Johnstown, Ohio, Mr. Reeves was a five-year member of the Big Red Band and a multi-talented student involved in show choir, athletics, and music. He continued his musical journey at Ohio University, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education. During his time at OU, he was a member of the renowned Marching 110, serving as the Alto Saxophone Section Leader and Dance Commander in his senior year. Mr. Reeves also showcased his talents as a two-time winner of the Student Arrangers Competition and as a student conductor for the Symphonic Band. His leadership extended to his roles as Treasurer and President of the Honorary Band Fraternity, Kappa Kappa Psi.

After graduating Cum Laude in 2012, Mr. Reeves began his teaching career as the Band Director at Harvest Preparatory School before moving to Fredericktown Local Schools. During his tenure in Fredericktown, the band grew significantly in size and earned top ratings at OMEA Large Group Contest and other regional events. The Fredericktown Band was also honored to perform at the AutoZone Liberty Bowl in Memphis, TN.

At Olentangy Berlin, Mr. Reeves teaches marching band, concert band, jazz band, intro to music theory, and AP music theory, instilling a love for music and excellence in his students. He is deeply committed to fostering teamwork, discipline, and creativity through music education.

Outside the classroom, Mr. Reeves enjoys spending time with his wife Katelyn, their children Charlotte, Harrison, Mia, and Lily and their two dogs, Rory and Copper. An avid traveler, he has visited over twenty U.S. National Parks and enjoys hiking, camping, golf, basketball, and baseball.

Mr. Reeves takes great pride in his students’ accomplishments and is dedicated to building a legacy of musical excellence at Olentangy Berlin High School.
